ICE

ICE - In Case of Emergency A campaign encouraging people to enter an emergency contact number in their mobile phone's memory under the heading "ICE" (i.e. In Case of Emergency), has rapidly spread throughout the world as a particular consequence of the recent terrorist attacks in London.

Originally established as a nation-wide campaign in the UK, ICE allows paramedics or police to be able to contact a designated relative / next-of-kin in an emergency situation.

The idea is the brainchild of East Anglian Ambulance Service paramedic Bob Brotchie and was launched in May this year. Bob, 41, who has been a paramedic for 13 years, said: "I was reflecting on some of the calls I've attended at the roadside where I had to look through the mobile phone contacts struggling for information on a shocked or injured person.

Almost everyone carries a mobile phone now, and with ICE we'd know immediately who to contact and what number to ring. The person may even know of their medical history."

By adopting the ICE advice, your mobile will help the rescue services quickly contact a friend or relative - which could be vital in a life or death situation. It only takes a few seconds to do, and it could easily help save your life. Why not put ICE in your phone now? Scotty has been beamed up ...

James Montgomery Doohan was born on March 3, 1920, in Vancouver, British Columbia. He became a captain of artillery in the Royal Canadian Army during World War II.

Doohan became a regular on the Star Trek convention circuit. Fans praised him for always signing autographs and chatting with fans about alternate universes. The ``Beam Me Up'' convention in August 2004 featured Scotty impersonation contests, Scotty trivia and a panel discussion on ``The Influence of Scotty on Society.''

Doohan said in a 1994 Boston Herald interview that he appeared at ``Star Trek'' events ``because I'm not getting other parts. I get a fabulous living just doing appearances.''

He also was a regular speaker at colleges and a spokesman for Royal Philips Electronics NV.

presenting our project ...

In response to your July 13 "Special Request For Help" I am sending this cc also to Terry Wilbur

For some time I have devoted my energies to a project for which some regard me as a whacko and, for understandable reasons, some folks will not be involved.

Yet the project is quite as much to benefit someone like Susan and Rachel - to permanently change their situation, not just drum up some donations and short-term "assistance" for them, which is too soon used up. My project is designed to benefit anyone, anywhere.

Necessarily I have had to consider the downside of possible denial of benefits to persons such as Susan and Rachel if somehow they should find themselves with sustaining income, so helping them might require someone to sponsor them - set up a trust or whatever is necessary to their individual case.

Because there is an element of MLM in our mix of strategies, it is necessary for us to continually find new people to join our group. While that may seem a big challenge to some, the fact is there are so many people out there like Susan and Rachel who could really use the long-term help we can provide.

Beyond that, there are many ordinary folks who could use additional income, others who would give more to charities if they could stretch their budget, parents struggling to provide a child's continuing education - so many reasons why anyone would find our project of personal value.

My real challenge right now is in learning how to present this project to others so they may see, hopefully, the value that we can, each of us, extend to those in real need out there - people exactly like Susan and Rachel.

The easy part is that it costs nothing to join us.

to spam or not to spam

Yes, Lucena, so you are [a real person she said] - thank you ... and please understand in no way do I mean to seem unkind in what I am about to say ...

... but before you contacted me, I knew you not at all. Would not mind the contact were you to want to know something about me or my business, but instead you seem to see me only as someone from whom to make more $$

On that basis, many people consider that you have spammed me. Lucky for you, I do not agree - not exactly that is, because unlike them, I know how to make friends. That is what I do, what I teach and, therefore, the intent of my message to you.

I invite you to learn to do the same; therein lies your success. Problem is at this point, were I to invite you to join my group, how would I know I can trust you not to spam again ? Sticky problem, eh ?

You see, if you continue your current practice, it will eventually come back to bite you, undoing all your hard work, so ... what will you do ?

You did provide a good working e-mail address, something which others fail to do, making their credibility zero. Why would I want to join with them ?

a better world ...

On the subject of television ...

Our society seems so big on talk. We talk endlessly or, in reality ... most of us sit and watch and listen to talking heads on television.

What is accomplished by all the talk, all the analysis and commentary ?
What is produced ? How are lives changed ?
Does any of it provide employment, or food to eat ?
... housing for homeless, safety from abuse ?

Aside from money changing hands in the form of a cable bill, what changes as I can see is that television viewers, listeners to radio in the same way, are given an illusion of having done something, "treated" a subject whatever it was, by devoting an odd hour listening to "supposed" experts talk about it.

When the hour is up, nothing has changed. Rarely do we, as "consumers" of television or other media, come away educated - knowing more than we did previously. Only if one is moved to action as result of all that talk does anything change.

What is needed to create a better world ?
- Basic needs met (food, water, shelter, security)
- Freedom from fear - including fear of freedom.
( responsibility for one's own life is scary )
- Access to opportunity and information
- Basic education to understand how to take
advantage of opportunity and use information

one a day ...

A friend who is not much supportive of what I do, good friend nonetheless, told me he would rather give to his favourite charity than participate with us ...

Good for him, and I hope he will exercise self-control and leave it to others to comment on this post.

The thing is, there are many fine charities out there, some of which I am happy to support. You and I are not always able to give as much as we would like, and do not always agree with some of the big money movements out there - direction, philosophy, etc.

I am well aware those who are in desperate need in this world are not likely to be online with us, and are being served by quality people who are "down in the trenches" working side by side with them every day ... but so much more can be done.

Whether one argues the Internet is an alternative economy, or just a tool to create an alternate economy - the point is missed.

This environment is means to transfer wealth from haves to have-nots - simply, legitimately, cleanly. Most people would contribute more to charities, if only they could stretch a budget that far ... well, why not make it so ?

Just a tiny bit of imagination is all it takes. There are thousands of seemingly small things each of us can do of a day that will make a big difference later.

Help yourself, help your neighbor, help your community - each step allows you to do more, and with each step you grow. Takes away nothing from you.

Do you spend even a few minutes each day thinking what you can do ? Yes, this is a call to action. Are you listening ?

tide comes in, tide goes out ...

It is happening again this weekend. 200,000 people worked hard to build an online community are being displaced - owner closing the business.

Only reason I know is that he told me how I could help ... by sending $100 for the new business he is forming.

Not once did he mention how members of the old group will be taken care of - his focus only on selling the new biz.

How will the online community benefit having $20 million drained away from it ? $100 x 200,000 - you can do the math ... not that all 200,000 are going to join the new biz, pay the $100

I wonder how many will ? Has this man not made enough from the business he is closing to take care of himself and his family for the rest of their lives ? If not, I wonder why ...

His math is faulty as he explains what is an advertising co-op, unless he himself does not understand how one works ...

The $100 x however many will join the new biz - $50 for each additional unit ... all goes to advertising, he says, to drive "waves" of traffic to new sites. That money leaves the online community and goes to benefit a television advertising community.

They need to eat too.

How realistic is it that someone content to sit and watch TV is going to help you or me to help others to get out of debt, avoid poverty, build a strong personal financial plan ? Would require "waves" of traffic just to find someone serious.

Is it faulty thinking to assume $100 shares in an advertising co-op to target such an audience is going to help anyone else earn income ?

murder ...

Once again today, madness in our world has expressed itself as
nothing more than indiscriminate murder, and for what purpose ?

While I do not support war, if we cannot cure madness in another person's mind, our choices seem clear to me:

Capture and imprison if possible, else hunt down and kill murderers.

Such madness has to stop.

I would prefer, as I am sure would you, to live in a world where reason could solve all disagreement.

When reason fails, when one's own survival is at stake, self-defense becomes necessary - with no alternative.

Our prayers are with the people of London and their families throughout the world, wherever they may be.

what would you do ... ?

What is holding us back ?

1. Our MLM portion continues to be an obstacle until we provide a steady cash flow to our membership. Simple as it is, we do not want you to be in a position responsible for ongoing monthly charges.

- Until my own frontline is earning consistently, our second level is waiting.

2. Managed positions continue to be a challenge to me. A recent opportunity to add another income stream to our group was a limited time offer. Response to such an invitation needs to be timely, else those in line below are left waiting ... perhaps too long, past the deadline.

- Five members were left behind in that round; consequently, next time such an opportunity is presented, members will have 72 hours to respond in order to benefit. Thank you those of you who did respond.

the price of freedom ...

Five signers of the Declaration of Independence were
captured by the British as traitors, and tortured
before they died.

Twelve had their homes ransacked and burned.

Two lost their sons serving in the Revolutionary Army;
another had two sons captured.

Nine of the 56 fought and died from wounds or hardships
of the Revolutionary War.

They signed and they pledged their lives, their fortunes,
and their sacred honor.

What kind of men were they?

Twenty-four were lawyers and jurists.

Eleven were merchants,

Nine were farmers and large plantation owners; men of
means, well educated, but they signed the Declaration
of Independence knowing fullwell that the penalty would
be death if they were captured.

Carter Braxton of Virginia, a wealthy planter and trader,
saw his ships swept from the seas by the British Navy.
He sold his home and properties to pay his debts, and
died in rags.

Thomas McKeam was so hounded by the British that he was
forced to move his family almost constantly. He served in
the Congress without pay, and his family kept in hiding.
His possessions were taken from him, and poverty was his
reward.

Vandals or soldiers looted the properties of Dillery, Hall,
Clymer, Walton, Gwinnett, Heyward, Ruttledge, Middleton.

At the battle of Yorktown, Thomas Nelson, Jr., noted that
the British General Cornwallis had taken over the Nelson
home as headquarters. He quietly urged General Washington
to open fire. The home was destroyed, and Nelson died
bankrupt.

Francis Lewis had his home and properties destroyed. The
enemy jailed his wife, and she died within a few months.

John Hart was driven from his wife's bedside as she was
dying. Their 13 children fled for their lives. His fields
and his gristmill were laid to waste. For more than a year
he lived in forests and caves, returning home to find his
wife dead and his children vanished.

- America was never meant to be about money.
- America is supposed to be about People.

Some of us take our liberties so much for granted, but
we should not - not ever, lest we lose them.

Freedom is very precious and if we do not protect it,
we WILL lose it. We will lose our freedom.

So take a few minutes while enjoying your Fourth of July
holiday and silently thank these patriots. Not much to
ask of you for the price they paid.

It is never too late get the word out that patriotism is
NOT uncool, and the Fourth of July has more to it than
beer, picnics, and baseball games.

myopia ...

Though I should be used to it now, continues to stun me the online barrage - marketers who want me to spend $149 today, after asking me to spend $50 yesterday ... and tomorrow ?

They make a few sales, and some of those they sell to make a few sales ... and the beat goes on.

How does that help you ? Just take one of a hundred such offers:
Today, a training seminar for $149.

1000 people sign up. $149,000 is taken out of the community into the hands of one "marketer" ... and how does that help you ?

How many seminars can you attend ? Why do you need to attend another seminar if the last one was so good ?

What is this "marketer" doing to give back ? ... to build the community ?

who is in control ... ?

Last night my favourite cat died suddenly. No good reason that I can see for it.

As well, I am dealing with issues regarding my Dad's care in Hermiston - exams and paperwork have been delayed, adding to costs unnecessarily.

One in our group is bitterly focused on IT. There is nothing I can do to direct IT, and frankly, such constant battering could make even me depressed.

Of course I want to see IT fly, and I believe it will, though I do have some reservations.

There is far too much on our agenda to spend every waking hour agonizing over IT.

new page ...

Today represents a crossroads of sorts, or a fork in the road ? Our new website is under development, and there is much to consider. This morning I found that one of the exchange services I use for advertising has, as my main page to promote their service, a page which advertises primarily a program I do not wish to support.

Our new site will provide three main areas for you:
1. Our core programs
2. Programs we recommend and support
3. Programs our members wish to support

That third group will have to meet certain qualifications; ie. if the company allows affiliates to use objectionable marketing practices, we will not recommend the company, even if it is sound, but we will allow a member to build a line in it, as long as our member meets group requirements:
No SPAM, no misleading headlines, no outrageous promises.

growcash boards will remain pretty much as is, except for changes recommended by our members. No longer will I post group updates in this blog. Another facility will be put in place for new members to catch up on back issues, and for current members as well : )
